BEA

Webpage: http://nar.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=1945474

Description:

Bea came to us from the local animal shelter because she is blind and needed special placement.

She comes when called, loves to play and purrs when pet. She will sleep on the couch next to you. She is staying until she puts some weight on. She had 2 surgeries: one to spay her and one to fix a problem with her spay which can happen. She had a blood clot which made her not feel well. Now, $3,800 dollars later she is in full recovery.

She is spayed, vaccinated and tested negative for felv/fiv. She was born sometime around December 2008.

Please help us by sponsoring her in her time of recovery. She will need a home of her own soon. You may also fill an application out at www.nar.rescuegroups.org

AQUILLA

Webpage: http://nar.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=1945459

Description:

This sweet girl was surrendered to the local animal shelter. Aquilla is a special needs cat. She is mostly blind, but may see shadows. Despite her condition, Aquilla is a very loving companion. While scared at first, she warmed up quickly in her foster home. Please find a place in your heart to give this special cat the home she needs and wants. Her blindness most likely stems from the following:

Taurine and vision

Taurine is indispensable to maintain the completeness of the retina of the eye ; (the retina is the membrane that covers the fundus of the eye, on which pictures are formed). In the retina, there is 100 to 400 times more taurine than in the blood. Since 1975, one knows that in the cat, a chronic deficiency of taurine induces a progressive degeneration of the retina, leading to a total blindness within 2 years. The correction of the diet allows to stop the evolution, but the lesions are not reversible

Aquilla is spayed, current on vaccines, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV.

Approximate date of birth is November 5, 2005.

Croi

Adult Female

Hi There!! My name is Croi, pronounced Cree. I know, it’s kind of a funny name but it has special meaning to me! My name comes from the Irish Gaelic word for heart. Why was I given such a name? Well let me tell you! It all started a couple of months ago when a nice lady saw me trying to find food in a trash can. I had been on my own for a long time and was not doing too well. I was always hungry, cold, and was itching all of the time. I was tired of trying to fend for myself, so when the nice lady took me to her house I figured it couldn’t get much worse. Well, it did get worse before it got better. The doctor told my new mom that I was a really sick kitty and may not live long because I was so sick. I was anemic from the fleas, severely undernourished, dehydrated and had a really bad heart murmur. It took me weeks and weeks to start feeling better but slowly I walked along my road to recovery. So like I said, that was a couple of months ago….Now, I’m a happy, healthy, fun-loving, 8 month old kitty! I still have a heart murmur, but it has gotten much better, it was initially bad because I was so sick, but now that I have gotten better so has my murmur. My doctor says it is a Grade 2 of 6. I don’t require any medication and it doesn’t bother me one bit! Now I spend my days lounging on the back of a sofa or sitting on my window seat watching the goings-on that occur outside. I live with some other cats and two dogs. I don’t mind my other cat friend’s, or the small dog I live with (because I’m bigger than him) but sometimes the bigger dog gets on my nerves. I would love to go to a home that can spoil me, since I think I deserve it. My requirements are to have a snuggly bed, to be fed a least twice a day and to be pet pretty much non-stop, so if you can offer me the items required above consider me yours!

Joey, DeeDee, Johnny, Tommy & Hazel

Young

Joey, DeeDee, Johnny, Tommy & Hazel

Young

Joey, DeeDee, Johnny and Tommy were born to a stray mom Hazel who brought them to my doorstep in September. Since then I have worked to bring them out of their shell and they are now curious and loveable 4 month old kittens. Johnny and Tommy are best buddies and would love to be adopted together. Johnny is adventurous and curious and will let you pick him up and cradle him like a baby. Tommy loves to cuddle and has a very loud purr. Both boys love tummy rubs. Joey is their med length hair brother and is mellow and still shy but is warming up to humans. DeeDee is the only girl and loves to flirt with you and play chase the birdy. All of the kittens seem to do well with other cats. Please consider adopting one or more of these sweeties.

Their mom Hazel is looking for a home as well and is a total love bug who loves to always be close to her human. Hazel is solid black, 1-2 years old, spayed and is up to date on her shots. Hazel does well with other cats with a slow introduction.

*Courtesy Listing* This cat is listed for an independent rescuer as a courtesy.  If interested, please use the contact information below.

Poor Roscoe was found outside on the cold streets of West Philly by his foster mom who brought him inside after feeding him for a couple of days on her porch. He must have been around people at some point because he is the sweetest cat around, and he also loves other cats and dogs too! He had a tough time outside on the streets and was severely malnourished, but he has gained over a pound since coming inside! At about 6 months old he is super playful and his favorite activities include chasing his laser pointer and sleeping on the end of the bed. Because he is still very much a kitten at heart he would do best with someone who has experience with hyper kitties like himself. Roscoe uses his litter box perfectly and has been fully vetted. He is FIV/FELV negative, fecal test negative, vaccinated, dewormed, flea-treated, and neutered. If interested in adopting Roscoe, please contact his foster mom at Nicola.A.Painter@gmail.com. A small adoption fee of $25 will be required to go towards costs of his vet care.

Smokey & Lucky

Adult Male

*Courtesy Listing* This cat is listed for an independent rescuer as a courtesy.  If interested, please use the contact information below.

My boyfriend and I were cat-sitting for a friend-of-a-friend who was moving to California and didn't have a grasp on Delta's cat-shipping policies. We were supposed to look after then until October, at which time they were to fly home to their dad. Long story short, they've been abandoned to us. We would love to keep them, but we already have two cats and they don't get along.
The grey and white glorious hunk of cat is named Smokey. As you can see, he's got a little bit of a weight problem. That being said, he can run surprisingly fast when he thinks he's being fed, or when he's about to get sprayed with water for being a bad kitty. He loves eating, laying down, rolling onto his back, and licking your feet when you get out of the shower. He's a little bit picky about where he's pet, but if you stick to head and chin scratches, he's super sweet. Otherwise, he gets a little bit nippy. (Again, he's gone through a tough time, so it's possible that he nips at me because he blames me for his current predicament.) He also loves to lay in the middle of the floor and look up at you like *you're* in *his* way.
The black handsome guy is Lucky. He is amazingly sweet, and he loves people attention. Seriously, you pet him once and he's purring. He loves being up in high places and getting his neck scratched. I honestly can't think of anything else to say about him, he's been such a good cat, and if he wasn't being constantly terrorized by our girl cat, we would keep him. He is also Halloween appropriate! :D
They are both neutered males, around 4 1/2 years old. I don't think they're brothers but they were raised together and get along well. They have been front-declawed. They received all their shots in July 2011, as well as clean bills of health (Smokey was called 'plump, but healthy'). We have carriers for them, as well as some random cat supplies (toys, food bowls). We will also provide their medical records and their old vet's information if you want to keep the same vet.
Because of their experience with my cats, I think it might be best if they were integrated into a home where they were the only pets. It would also be great if we could get them adopted together. Because of their lousy last owner, we want to make sure that they're going to a good home, so if you are interested in these cats we want to know all about you! :)

Star Jones

Star Jones

Hi there!! My name is Star Jones an 8 month old ball of energy. I know what you must be thinking…just another black cat. Well that couldn’t be further from the truth. I am a Star in my own right with a larger than life personality! I got my name because even though I may appear all black I actually have a star shaped white spot in the middle of my chest. I used to live on the streets when I was younger until a nice lady allowed me to come and live with her. Now I live in the lap of luxury, at least compared to my old life. I spend my days playing with my other kitty doggies friends, playing with my favorite toys, and when I need some rest curled up in my favorite bed by the window. As much fun as those activities are my favorite thing to do it spend time with my foster mom, I love to be scratched behind my ears and to be a lap kitty. So if you happen to have an empty lap that needs to be filled let me know. I’m the perfect fit! Hope to meet you soon!

Tough Guy

Adult Male

My name is Tough Guy. I am a 2 year old black domestic short hair neutered male. I recently tested negative for FELV,FIV, FVRCP. I am also up to date on all my shots and have been dewormed. I am microchipped as well. I'm a special kind of laid back guy, looking for a special kind of laid back person. Some may say I'm a loner, a rebel...but I just say I'm 'chillax' and cool. I am very social to people but don't particularly like being around other animals. I like being the only pet in the home because then I know that I am top cat and I won't have to try to prove it to anybody. My temporary human pet has at least gotten me off the streets were I was constantly in danger. I can play a little rough at times, but hey I'm from the streets of Philly and that's how we do. I am sure if given the proper care and attention I would be an awesome addition to your home... I mean look at me...I am totally the cats meow...I'm like a mini panther just not as lean and muscular or tall.

An application requesting adoption will be required. A $50.00 adoption fee is required once the adopter has been approved.
