The Itty Bitty Little Kitties – A Picture Story

A few weeks ago, a volunteer noticed a pregnant cat in their yard. They tried to coax her into coming over, but she was easily spooked and ran off scared.   On Labor Day Weekend, right before the rain started, she showed up again with an abscess on her cheek and very, very pregnant. She was so hungry that she couldn’t resist the smell of wet food.  After letting her have a few bites of food, the volunteer promptly grabbed her by the scruff of her neck, picked her up, and brought her inside before she had a chance to get away.  After a few hours indoors, Firefox decided that people weren’t so scary after all and decide that food and cuddles were way better!  Before the end of the weekend, Firefox gave birth to 5 adorable little kittens.  We got her abscess taken care of, and made sure that she was healthy and sent her and the kittens off to her foster home.  Despite her own young age (about 6-9 months old), she is a great mom and is making sure that her little kits are well cared for, and they are all doing very well!

Oh wait, these chin scratches are pretty awesome! Okay, yeah, I am pretty pregnant… Okay, *really* pregnant! Ugh, labor is NOT fun. (She let us give her some pets all way through labor…talk about a fast turnaround!) Oh, look! I haz a kitten! Did I say A kitten? I meant five. Phoenix, a few minutes after being born. So tiny! Kitten Pile!!! A much needed nap for Firefox… Three days later… A matched pair… Mmm, delicious kitten!!

Kitten Pile at 1 week old.

We will try to keep posting pictures of their progress here, but be sure to check out our FB for all the pictures and videos for all the latest news!   Also, if you can, donate to help contribute to their care.   Firefox and all of her kittens will be up for adoption around 12 weeks old, once they have been given all their shots and spayed/neutered.  If you would like to adopt one of these awesome cats, you can fill out an adoption application now!
